Guest Speaker: Joann Pyne, Chief Academic Officer, TAFE Queensland.

As the Chief Academic Officer for TAFE Queensland, Joann Pyne leads academic governance processes for the largest, most experienced training provider in the state, with more than 500 nationally-recognised qualifications across 50 locations.

Joann is also Chair for the TAFE Queensland Academic Board which administers TAFE Queensland’s RTO and CRICOS scope of registration and higher education offerings.

Previously to this role, Joann was the General Manager of TAFE Queensland North Region; the largest provider of high quality vocational education and training in North Queensland. The region is home to 50% of the state’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population, and over 30 discrete indigenous communities.

For the past two decades, Joann has been instrumental in developing a range of programs that have received awards and accolades for their innovative approach, unique and successful partnerships and their responsiveness to business, industry and community.

She has extensive networks within the sector and is determined to ensure TAFE is seen as the premier training provider and an advocate of Indigenous vocational education in Queensland.

Joann is passionate about TAFE being an active and high quality learning organisation that students, employers, industry and employees are proud to be associated with.

Guest Speaker: Suzanne Muir, Director Workforce Policy for the Market Capability Group, Department of Social Services.

The highly anticipated release of the NDIS National Workforce Plan in June this year outlined the Government’s commitment over the next four years to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in working with participants, industry and stakeholders to grow a responsive and capable workforce.

As Director for the Workforce Policy team Suzanne Muir is leading the implementation of the Plan, which aims to capitalise on the work already undertaken by governments and industry, build sustainable, flexible and high-quality services and attract thousands of new workers to the sector.

Suzanne is well placed to deliver the Plan, with vast experience across Commonwealth Government and policy roles in the Department of Health and Department of Home Affairs.
