The e-learning program is one of 19 NDIS workforce development initiatives taking place across Queensland as part of WorkAbility’s NDIS Training and Skills Support Strategy (NTSSS).

Queensland Council of Social Services (QCOSS) CEO Aimee McVeigh said the course was a free resource to help build organisations’ capacity and capability in understanding and complying with the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework.

“We know an NDIS emerging workforce priority is to create space for a diverse NDIS market, including sole providers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations, and to support them to deliver high quality and safe services,” she said.

“The NDIS Quality & Safeguarding Framework is large and complex, so this [course] supports the whole sector to navigate this better and be prepared for auditing. It also offers functionality through a flexible online learning approach and takes into consideration critical and mandatory skill requirements for NDIS workers.”

Currently in Queensland there are 4,197 registered NDIS service providers, of which 2,735 are active. (Source: Strengthening Queensland’s NDIS Workforce report, 2021, WorkAbility Qld)

The NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework was introduced by the Australian Government as a nationally consistent approach to ensuring quality and safeguards are in place for providers who are delivering NDIS services to people with disabilities. It also empowers and support NDIS participants to exercise choice and control in the services they choose to support them.

The NDIS is one of the largest reforms to have taken place in Australia in the last ten years.

In Queensland alone there are more than 55,000 NDIS participants, which is predicted to grow.

The NDIS Quality and Safety Compliance e-learning program is an initiative of Workability Qld and is funded by Queensland Government.
