A new WorkAbility program under NTSSS called The Human Factor, is being launched in selected Queensland state high schools to draw Year 11 and 12 students to the sector.
The Human Factor Disability Workforce Pathway Program is funded by the Department of Education Small Business and Training (DESBT) to deliver vocational training in schools for our sector.
Led by NTSSS project officers at NDS, it launches in Term 1, 2021 in Nambour, Gympie, Townsville and Far North Queensland.
The Program provides assistance not only to young people, but to schools, employers and Industry to support students to gain valuable experiences in the workplace and learning in the sector.
Currently employers are being sought in each region to support the program through providing work placements and entry-level career opportunities.
The Human Factor Disability Workforce Pathway Program will equip students with industry relevant skills and real jobs outcomes that focus on providing:
• Developed knowledge of the sector
• Relevant and specific skills sets and workplace learning
• Local employment and vocational training pathways
• Pathways and connection after school
• Ongoing support to reach students’ full potential
The program will be delivered in partnership with industry endorsed (Skills Assure Suppliers) Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to deliver the CHC22015 Certificate II in Community Services incorporating a selection of disability elective units from CHC33015 Certificate III Individual Support.
It will be delivered as part of the school’s timetable at school using the vocational training investment, either by a suitably qualified teacher or the RTO’s trainer.
