Early project engagement is underway with Apunipima Cape York Health Council around development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander NDIS Service Providers and Workforce in Far North Queensland.
Project Officer Julie Allen visited the organisation in February to meet with NDIS Program Manager Paula Fisher and gain understanding of the training needs for their community and NDIS workforce.
Project work with Apunipima Cape York Health Council for the implementation phase of the NTSSS Project aims to co-design a skill set or learning program that supports the organisation to be successful in the delivery of a range of NDIS supports.
Apunipima employs over 250 staff and is the largest community-controlled health organisation in Queensland, representing 17 Cape York Communities.
The service leads a family-centred model of care driven by community-based Health Action Teams (HATS).
The WorkAbility team is returning to North Queensland in March to consult and commence project planning with the Apunipima Cape York Health Council.
The consortium is committed to building effective and respectful partnerships, communication and providing support in ways that are culturally appropriate.
