WorkAbility Qld and TAFE Queensland are partnering to deliver a new program initiative to vocational practitioners and teachers across Queensland who deliver qualifications relevant to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The first of the NDIS Principles and VET Practitioner’s Leadership Programs is currently being delivered via Zoom in real time across six two-hour sessions to approx 40 teachers from Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) from July to October.

During the sessions teachers gain contemporary information from expert presenters to support the learning of students entering the community services industry, particularly in relation to the NDIS.

Specifically, the program delivers information to support capability frameworks and works in collaboration with industry partners, practitioners and representatives from legislative agencies including the Human Rights Commission and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Central to the whole program is the inclusion of key presenters with lived experiences, sharing their journey with the NDIS to date and insights into the training of the NDIS workforce.

Program One concludes in October 2020. Program Two will commence soon after.
