For the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Existing Workforce Development initiative under the NTSSS project up to 18 staff at Carbul Medical Services will undergo the Cert IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care delivered by TAFE Queensland South West (TQSW).
By gaining the required skills and knowledge for this qualification, primary health workers at Carbal Medical Services at Toowoomba and Warwick clinics will be equipped to be able to support the health and wellness needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within the region.
Specialists electives will be included in the program to support workers to provide services with a focus on mental health and disability.
This qualification is set up by TQSW as a self-paced, facilitated model that supports individual students, not locked step groups.
This means students can progress at an appropriate pace for themselves. Students can also attend nominated days at the TQSW campus to participate in clinical skills practice.
