For the New Disability and Auslan Trainers initiative under the NTSSS project up to 32 Deaf participants will complete a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment led by Deaf Services.
Project Aim
Training aims to increase the workforce of Disability and Auslan trainers available to deliver the Auslan qualifications across Queensland.
Deaf Services is leading project delivery with training delivered by Registered Training Organisation MRWED Training and Assessment, and students will be supported to complete the course through direct classroom teaching, tutoring from Auslan Trainers, as well as provision of accessible translated course content and the flexibility to study.
Industry Need
The project responds to increasing industry demand where the number of interpreting jobs per year has almost doubled from approximately 5,000 in 2016-17 to 10 000 to 2018-19. (Source: Auslan Connect).
