Successful launch of the NDIS in North Queensland
The rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Queensland was officially launched in Townsville on Friday 1 July 2016.
The event was attended by key stakeholders from the disability sector, education and training sector, employment sector, DATSIP and other relevant government departments and celebrated the commencement of the NDIS in the North Queensland region.
The North Queensland NDIS Workforce Action Plan was also launched at the event. The NDIS Workforce Action Plan is a strategy of WorkAbility Qld and has been developed by the North Queensland WorkAbility Network in consultation with key stakeholders across the region.
This plan aims to support the region in growing and skilling both the existing and future NDIS workforces to meet the needs of people with a disability across the region.
The Workforce Action Plan is a key component of the North Queensland NDIS Workforce Plan, which sets priorities for action and outlines place based supply, capability and utilisation initiatives to support the region in having the right people, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time to support the implementation of the NDIS in the region.
