Musical chairs: Job seekers speed through interviews in Cairns Jobs Roadshow
More than 380 job interviews took place at WorkAbility’s Jobs Roadshow in Cairns on Friday 16 November. Pre-screened jobseekers spoke to 20 recruiters from 10 local disability services employers on the day, with 60 per cent of the 70 people interviewed offered a second interview.
Far North Queensland WorkAbility Co-ordinator Dr Deb Selway says pre-screening jobseekers is crucial to the success of each Jobs Roadshow.
“Our partners for the Cairns event, Workways and Max Employment, worked closely with the jobseekers to help them shine their light on the day, and we thank them for that,” she said.
“We expect a good number of excellent job outcomes from the Cairns Jobs Roadshow – and more are planned for Far North Queensland in 2019, so watch this space.”
Employer reaction to the roadshows has been positive, according to WorkAbility Co-ordinator Natalie Palelei. She says more often than not they are finding really promising candidates.
“Cairns was the 10th WorkAbility Jobs Roadshow for 2018, and has facilitated approximately 3000 introductions,” she said.
“Jobs Roadshows are a fantastic way of bringing everyone together to build the NDIS workforce.”
