Meet the NTSSS Project Team
Meet the Project Team who will deliver phase two of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Training and Skills Support Strategy (NTSSS) Project on behalf of WorkAbility Queensland.
Project Officers bring passion, expertise and connections from across the community services industry and will each lead a key component of the NTSSS project focussing on building employment pathways in the industry.
Mandy Strathearn, NTSSS Project Manager, Community Services Industry Alliance (CSIA)
Mandy Strathearn has 26 years’ experience in the community services industry, government bodes; Education, Communities, Disability Services and TAFE.
She has senior program and project management background and implemented ground-breaking projects in rural and remote communities across Australia. Mandy is passionate about grass roots community initiatives.
In addition to NTSSS Project Management, Mandy will lead project work around VET industry placements, emerging NDIS roles and NDIS RTO Trainer Development.
Julie Allen, Senior Sector Capacity Officer, Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS)
Julie Allen has a nursing background, specialising in mental health and with a forty-year career in health including disability, palliative care, aged care, youth homelessness and more recently social and emotional wellbeing, including suicide prevention/intervention.
Julie’s First Nations Palawa ancestry has inspired her to work closely with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities, delivering frontline healthcare in remote communities. She has managed interstate programs for NATSIHWA and QAIHC and has a passion for capacity building and supporting communities to be sustainable under the principles of self-determination.
Julie will lead NTSSS work around Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Organisations management capability, existing workforce development and engaging new providers, workforce diversity and attraction, and quality safety and participants.
Melinda Everett, Senior Sector Development Officer, National Disability Services (NDS)
Melinda Everett commenced working at National Disability Services in 2017 when she joined the WorkAbility Queensland project. Having lived in regional areas for most of her life, Melinda is particularly interested in the unique workforce challenges within regional Queensland settings and the need for workforce development to reflect local needs.
During her time with the WorkAbility Qld Project, Melinda facilitated regional working groups and locally-led recruitment and retention projects. She is looking forward to using these learnings to develop targeted recruitment events and youth attraction initiatives within the NTSSS project.
Melinda will lead NTSSS project work around VET in Schools and Jobs Roadshows.
