Youth Attraction – Logan Jobs Roadshow

WorkAbility-Admin 0 225

WorkAbility Queensland and Mabel Park SHS are excited to bring you this Youth Attraction – Logan Jobs Roadshow.

The demand for skilled and qualified workers under 25 to meet existing and new participant preferences is growing at a rapid pace and we are working hard to help you meet that need.

WorkAbility and Mabel Park State High are utilising the Health Hub and Jobs Roadshows to support the ‘Grow your Own’ and ‘Youth Attraction’ strategies of disability industry employers to increase the interest and access to an under 25 workforce.

The Jobs Roadshows are designed for employers to:

  • access a variety of workforce supply sources
  • access a high volume of new workforce to enter their candidate pools

Through the Mabel Park SHS Health Hub program and school network we have a centralised pool of youth candidates who have a clear interest in Careers in Disability and in most cases, have commenced or completed a VET qualification.

The Health Hub is a VET in Schools program located at Mabel Park SHS. A collaboration with 12-14 local schools attracts over 100 students to study the Cert II Health Support Services. This is a prepatory program for young people to enter careers in health, disability and community services.

Mabel Park and associated schools also deliver a Cert III in Individual Support to Yr 12s and past graduates (Yr 13s).

The clearest pathway and development for this already inspired youth workforce is to join your organisation in either a traineeship, youth development or grow your own program.

Traineeships and other youth pathways can be supported by a variety of stakeholders. eg.

Traineeships are supported by a partnership of:

  • Employer or Host employer
  • Trainee (and their guardian if under 18),
  • The School (if school based)
  • A registered training organisation (RTO)
  • Australian Apprenticeships Support Network (AASN)

Candidates are being drawn from:

  • Logan and surrounds
  • Current Health Hub students
  • Graduates of the Cert II Health Support Services
  • Current Yr 13 students of Cert III Individual Support

What is a Jobs Roadshow?

It is a high volume recruitment event. We bring the candidates, you bring your recruiters and we set everybody up to engage in speed interviewing. You will meet a lot of candidates in a short amount of time.

A recruiter can expect to meet 15-20 candidates and we recommend you bring a minimum of 2 recruiters. Employers interview an average of 35 candidates at each event.
